Start of #YLOOC buffer: Fri Jul 29 23:41:21 2005 [12:57] * Now talking in #YLOOC [12:57] * Murdoc is now known as `Doc|afk [13:33] * Diceaholic has joined #YLOOC [16:37] * `Doc|afk is now known as Murdoc [17:36] * Reyolen has joined #YLOOC [17:37] What's the story channel again? [17:38] #YL1000 [17:38] Though you're the first one in. [17:38] Ah, I was doing 100, got it [17:38] I see [17:38] Did you get my PM? [17:39] Yeah. But I've been really busy, so I haven't looked at anything game-related since last session. [17:39] Well, I just sent my character [17:39] You used tabs, didn't you? [17:39] Yes...sorry about that. [17:40] * Taylen has joined #YLOOC [17:40] It was kind of difficult to get set up for the pm...I can e-mail you the file, if you want [17:40] Hey Tay [17:40] Hey [17:57] * GilAway has joined #YLOOC [17:57] * GilAway is now known as Gil [17:57] hey drak [17:58] Hey there [17:58] Yo. [18:02] Yay, friend will be in town tomorrow! [18:02] (This city is boring as hell with no one in town.) [18:03] Okay, I know we're missing Pair - is Pved coming tonight, or will this be it? [18:03] Dunno. [18:05] Honestly, I'm fine running with just this since we're going to be staying at Millie's for another day - but we can wait for Pved, if it'd be better with that. [18:05] * Reyolen is now known as Kerjak [18:05] * Murdoc is now known as `Doc [18:05] It doesn't matter to me, either, but it would help to have more, so you don't have to npc so much, Doc [18:06] <`Doc> Heh. I admit my head's not really in it this evening. But I'd at least like to get the party on the move by session's end if possible. You folks have been hanging around here for a while. [18:06] Only one day, technically. [18:06] <`Doc> Two. [18:07] <`Doc> Three if you count the day you first showed up. [18:07] Two? One was when we went after the bandits, though, right? [18:07] Hmm [18:09] We can certainly be on the move by day's end, in any case. Technically, since we're only staying to rest Socks and Mari/Gil (I suggested we wait overnight, but Noooo... =P), we could be out by mid-afternoon if we're willing to discuss plans on the way instead of at the house. [18:10] It mostly depends on how many characters you feel like NPCing. With only three people, you'll be taking a lot of roles. [18:16] I'll be working on my campaign page while we wait. Message me when we start, and I should by all rights hear it. [18:17] <`Doc> Kay. I'm writing the intro now. [18:17] Speaking of which - hey, I'm designing a new campaign. [18:17] http://mekanax.pbwiki.com/ [18:17] Just so people know. [18:22] Be right back...gotta feed the dogs, sorry. 10 minutes, tops [18:22] * Kerjak is now known as Kerjak|Away [18:26] <`Doc> I forget, did either Gil or Mari sleep while they were out? [18:26] Nope [18:28] * Taylen is now known as Marigold [18:34] Writing a tired Gil is simple - I simply don't use backspace, and type exactly what I'm thinking. [18:34] <`Doc> Hmm. Now I need to know if Kerjak does anything before you folks wake up. Agaven is taking a long, if cramped, bath. [18:36] Quite alright. Just message me or something when he gets back, so I'll actually know of game progress this time. [18:36] Sorry, back [18:36] * Kerjak|Away is now known as Kerjak [18:37] No, I don't do anything important before everyone wakes up [18:38] <`Doc> Okay, just watching over folks then. [18:39] Yes [18:44] bluff roll? [18:44] <`Doc> Might be a good idea. [18:45] Oo, diceaholic didn't used to do that, did it? [18:45] <`Doc> Do what? [18:45] "Kerjak rolls blah blah" it used to just...maybe not :p Maybe I dunno what I'm talking about [18:46] the name is new I think [18:46] before I'm pretty sure it just gave numbers [18:46] <`Doc> Oh. Looks like I set up my shortcut to the wrong one. [18:47] Different dice-bot? [18:47] What's the difference? [18:47] If this one gives higher roll-numbers, I'm all for it. =P [18:47] <`Doc> The D&D one is using the older randomizer, the one that tended to roll low. However, the newer one hasn't been doing so hot either, so we'll see. [18:48] <`Doc> dieroll 50#1d20 [18:48] * Diceaholic --> "`Doc Dice Error: Maximum of 30 dice groups per roll." [18:48] heh [18:48] <`Doc> dieroll 30#1d20 [18:48] * Diceaholic --> "`Doc rolls 30#1d20 and gets 20, 13, 16, 20, 3, 14, 12, 1, 2, 15, 5, 14, 16, 3, 4, 6, 4, 10, 11, 5, 3, 20, 2, 5, 14, 14, 10, 20, 3, 14." [18:48] <`Doc> Good enough. [18:48] Looks like 16 above 10 [18:48] That's pretty average [18:50] this is gonna make for a hell of an explination when they wake up [19:02] Gil - smooth talker. [19:21] Mirra isn't the least upset that she hit Mari :( [19:24] She's suppressing all memory of the last day. I'm just happy she can form coherent sentences. [19:29] * Pved has joined #YLOOC [19:29] * Pved is now known as Agaven [19:29] rar [19:29] Hey! [19:30] <`Doc> What's the last thing you were here for and/or read about, Pved? [19:31] Um.. arguing about where to go next [19:31] <`Doc> Okay, here goes. [19:33] <`Doc> During the argument, Mirra was acting emotionless, but you probably remember that. Marigold and Gil had gone for the stream, Mari to get away from Mirra's repetitions, and Gil to calm Marigold (probably). [19:34] <`Doc> Pair decided to sing Mirra to sleep, but the song was so good she sang half the camp to sleep. Marigold came running back, yelling at Pair. She wanted to wake Mirra, but Robert and Kerjak suggested it was better to let Mirra rest. [19:35] <`Doc> Pair took Mirra's statue away, ranting that it was cursed or something, but as it turned out Gil had given it to her after carving it himself. The statue was eventually returned to the sleeping Mirra. Marigold, however, ran away in a huff, and Gil went chasing after her on horseback. [19:36] <`Doc> Marigold and Gil were gone all night, while Pair and Robert got preoccupied talking with Millie, Lon, and Ikky. You asked the mercs to watch over Mirra to make sure she didn't hurt herself or anyone else when she woke up. [19:37] <`Doc> Oh, and somewhere before Marigold ran off, probably while she was examining the statue, Pair asked you to make sure Mirra was okay. You determined that she was physically fine, and sleeping. [19:38] <`Doc> You went inside to sleep in the small but comfortable guest room, and after you woke up, waited for everyone else to go outside and attend to chores before settling yourself in for a long hot bath. [19:38] <`Doc> Just now you came out, and ran into Marigold, who was headed for the house. [19:39] <`Doc> [19:16] <`Doc> Mari: On your way back to the house, you cross paths with Agaven, "Oh good, you're back." [19:39] <`Doc> [19:18] * Marigold stops suddenly and nods quietly "Do you have anything for a hurt head?" [19:39] <`Doc> [19:18] <`Doc> Mari: "Certainly," Agaven replies, "have a seat and let me take a look at you." [19:39] <`Doc> [19:19] * Marigold sits on the ground and looks at her feet [19:40] <`Doc> [19:24] <`Doc> Mari: Agaven starts combing her fingers through the fur of your head, "Looks like she did a number on you." [19:40] <`Doc> [19:24] * Marigold just keeps staring at her feet [19:40] <`Doc> [19:28] <`Doc> Mari: You feel a cooling sensation on your head as Agaven rubs in a salve. [19:40] <`Doc> Pick up from there. [19:55] brb [20:13] <`Doc> Is everyone gathering their stuff for the trip at this point? [20:14] I am [20:15] Yep. [20:15] yeah suppose so [20:16] Yers [20:16] <`Doc> Then I'll forward time a bit. [20:17] oh I want to plant my little tree on the way out ;) [20:18] <`Doc> Want to RP that, or just do it while everyone's gathering stuff? [20:19] <`Doc> Sorry if I seem a bit out of sorts, but like I said, my head's not really in it today. Possibly because I've been so busy, possibly due to the heat. [20:19] 'Sokay. [20:19] We're just getting out on the road. No big important things yet. [20:19] just do it while everyone is gathering stuff [20:27] <`Doc> It's about a one-day trip to Malthazar, largely through farmlands. [20:35] Gil is haemorraging money. [20:36] <`Doc> I think I'll just lie down for a second in this field of POPPIES, Poppies, poppies... [20:36] Half of trading is forging relationships. [20:36] You can't make money if no one will buy from you. [20:36] And really, Gil still has plenty of cash if you think about it. [20:41] Gil knows how to appeal to the heart of a mercenary. "HUGE CHEST OF CASH." [20:42] If they have any sense, they're skeptical unless some of that cash appears upfront. [20:43] well to be fair bother the previous groups had a chest of cash [20:45] being skeptical usually indicates you have gotten no supporting evidence [20:45] * `Doc thinks Agaven should chime in at this point... [20:58] * `Doc is listening to the FF7 fight music. Fun stuff. [20:59] <`Doc> Kinda makes me want to play the game again. Too bad life's so short on time. [21:00] Agaven seems to be confusing Gil for someone out of his mind. Rational action seems to be "let the authorities handle the big stuff." [21:00] FF7 was classic [21:06] Gil's out of his mind if he thinks we're going to Terranada :) [21:12] brb my character has nothing meaningful to contribute for a bit anyway [21:13] <`Doc> FF7 "Still More Fighting"... I love this upbeat stuff. [21:13] back didn't take as long as I expected [21:13] Yesterday's OotS was fun :D [21:13] <`Doc> Search check if you actually want to find Meebie, or you can use alternative methods. [21:14] * `Doc hasn't checked OotS since Thursday. He's saving it for reading at work tomorrow. [21:14] <`Doc> I had to dial into work this morning to do some stuff. It took about an hour. [21:20] mari is waiting for this conversation to be over so maybe she can talk with mirra a little uninterrupted [21:22] hey Doc you gonna give the exp you were too tired to last time we played? [21:23] <`Doc> Not tonight. I'm way behind, haven't managed to deal with that all week :( [21:23] <`Doc> Three straight weekends helping my brother move didn't help. [21:25] .... [21:26] giant acid spitting bats! [21:26] big nasty reminds me a little of a black dragon [21:27] That would explain the treasure. [21:28] okay so now we need to go find a place to powerlevel ;) [21:36] The apostrophe should not be next to the enter key. Seriously. [21:38] * Marigold has quit IRC (Ping timeout) [21:38] <`Doc> uh oh, there goes Taylen. hope he pops back on soon [21:39] Did I just fail my comic relief roll or what? :( [21:40] Dragons inspire too much fear to be comedic over. [22:00] <`Doc> Just so everyone knows, my plan is to carry out this conversation today, then intro you to the city next session. [22:02] Good plan, I think we're just about wrapping up [22:10] <`Doc> "Electric de Chocobo"? *snicker* [22:10] <`Doc> It's like "wipeout" meets the chocobo song. [22:17] <`Doc> The stereotype dwarf has an amazing ability to think about getting paid above all else. [22:29] <`Doc> brb, restroom [22:31] <`Doc> back [22:53] <`Doc> Bah, I kinda wish Gil had made that check. [22:53] <`Doc> So, anyone have anything more to say? [22:53] Thinking. [22:53] * Kerjak has quit IRC (Ping timeout) [22:53] <`Doc> Wow. Down to two. [22:54] <`Doc> It's 7 minutes to 11PM. That sounds like a good stopping deadline. [22:55] I'm fine with that, considering the problem with numbers. And I'm sure Gil will get someone to tell him eventually. He's a decent, understanding person in poor circumstances - he gets both the pity and compassion votes! [22:56] * Reyolen has joined #YLOOC [22:56] Ahem, sorry about that [22:56] * Reyolen is now known as Kerjak [22:56] <`Doc> no worries, we're ending pretty soon anyhow [22:56] Yeah... [22:58] Wait, when did we do that? Was that the session I missed? [22:58] <`Doc> Possibly. Was in the bandit camp, after the battle. [23:00] * Taylen has joined #YLOOC [23:00] <`Doc> Man you were gone a while. [23:00] gotta admit the power company is pretty quick with repairs though [23:00] * Taylen is now known as Marigold [23:00] What I miss ;) [23:01] <`Doc> More conversation. Anyone wanna catch Taylen up? He might have something to contribute at this point. [23:01] Agaven just pointed out that Robert's been very visible lately [23:02] we still walking then? [23:03] <`Doc> Yep. Finishing the conversation this session, introducing the city next session. [23:03] Basically, Agaven and Robert have been trying to convince Gil not to tell any "proper authorities." This made Gil more upset than previous, so they asked him what was wrong and talked about his Uncle a bit. Now Robert is sort of half-sharing information, and half being told to shut up by Agaven. [23:06] Pretty much [23:07] k [23:08] <`Doc> Gil, if you don't have a reply to that, I'd like to wrap up. [23:08] You can wrap up now. It's not much of a reply. [23:09] <`Doc> Oh, Taylen, were you in channel when people started talking about dragons? [23:09] If they're camping, Agaven wants to let something cook over the campfire overnight. [23:09] I think so [23:09] <`Doc> Okay. [23:10] Was the okay to me or Tay? [23:10] <`Doc> Taylen. Though the group probably isn't camping. It's only a one-day trip so long as you're taking the roads, and if you did camp, you could look for an inn. [23:11] Ahh. [23:11] Okay. [23:12] Sorry. Alrighty. [23:13] <`Doc> y'know, HOLD is having zero effect on you people [23:13] I finished. [23:13] Sorry but you said you wanted to finish up the conversation [23:13] and I got carried away talking ;) [23:13] <`Doc> Now you know why I put HOLD instead of GAME OFF [23:14] <`Doc> Everybody done? [23:14] I guess so... [23:14] <`Doc> I figure the conversation has pretty much wound down enough that it can be finished OOC. [23:14] Hey, I wanted to say more, but I respected the hold ;) [23:14] :P [23:14] If you'd allow me a sentence, I'd be happier - but I see no problem cutting it off here, and picking up with "conversation interrupted by HEY, CITY." [23:15] I won't say it though, it's a conversation sparker. [23:15] <`Doc> I need to put my car away and start getting ready for sleep. Wrap up as you are. [23:15] <`Doc> Agaven: Oh? [23:16] Actually, if you'll be a bit, I will. [23:16] <`Doc> I'm gonna be busy for a few minutes outside of the game. [23:16] k [23:16] Alright [23:16] <`Doc> And I do have to get up 6.75 hours from now to get ready for work. [23:21] Ehh, I'm actually feeling a bit tired myself. I may have to bolt, if that's okay with you all [23:23] <`Doc> Perfectly fine. [23:24] That looks a good stopping point there [23:24] Alright. Sorry you guys, I'll see you next time. [23:24] * Kerjak is now known as Reyolen [23:24] see ya [23:24] * Reyolen has quit IRC [23:24] <`Doc> Everyone good for stopping this time? [23:24] Yep. [23:24] Yers [23:24] yeah [23:25] Very good game. [23:26] Mari shall now drag you all over the world ;) [23:28] Gil's very hobbit-like. He'd be fine with anything, so long as he knew he could just set it down and go back home at the end of the day. [23:28] This sorta removed that comfort zone. [23:28] Mari has no binding to physical places really, she is comfortable anywhere except cities [23:29] Gil's eventually going to cure her of that. =P [23:30] She'll never be comfortable in normal cities, but you could probably convince her to settle down eventually [23:31] Heh. I'm not talking about "hey, let's buy an inn in the middle of the city." I was more talking "the city is good for some things - like down beds, saunas, restaurants, and concerts." [23:31] Agaven's gone eccentric because she hasn't had a home in three years, only residences. [23:32] She spends as little time in cities as possible because they bother her, the crowds, the noise, the lack of plant growth and animals, etc [23:33] Gil's one of those people who can generally find good in everything. If it weren't for the fact that he now feels he should buy a new set of clothes, he'd consider the trip a total gain. [23:33] It's just the "hovering doom" part that's bugging him. [23:33] You can however have saunas and down beds in a cabin in the woods [23:33] Heh. [23:34] Keep in mind, Gil's "home" is a hole in the hillside in the forest. [23:34] He just likes the atmosphere of activity in the city. So long as the action doesn't come directly to him, he enjoys busy and exciting things. [23:35] But he still wants someplace quiet to go back to. [23:35] you will also have to convince her not to try and settle anyone she take s a liking to within walking distence of the cabin [23:36] Heh. [23:37] otherwise you will so be in the middle of a small, wild village of assorted beings [23:37] Gil doesn't seem like the sort of person to have a set location in the first place. He grew up with caravans, he's used to the idea of "a home on the road, and a home to come home to." [23:37] a goblin tribe there, a couple halforc farmers over there, a handful of haflling foresters by the lack [23:38] a dozen or so elves scattered around [23:38] He'd be more likely to have just a favourite inn, which he's bought stock in. [23:38] <`Doc> Half orcs? Someone didn't read his history :p [23:38] Elves? [23:38] it's a joke Doc ;) [23:38] * Agaven is now known as Pvednes [23:39] besides if anyone if gonna find impossible races to settle nearbye it's this lot [23:39] Y'know, I think that'll end up being a goal of Gil's - find a really nice, pleasant-to-stay-at inn, and buy half share in it. [23:40] marigold will just take over wardship of a hundred acres or so of forested hillside somewhere with a nice lake [23:40] <`Doc> Anyway, off to bed I go. Hi ho, hi ho, and all that jazz. [23:41] night Doc End of #YLOOC buffer Fri Jul 29 23:41:21 2005
