The focus of our story returns now to the wealthy district of Malthazar, outside the gates to the Feathersash estate, where Mirra and Marigold have been reunited with Pair, Agaven, and their newfound friend. [08:08] <`Doc> The fledgeling discussion has already ranged from flowers to escape routes to the height of the lizardman's family. [08:08] <`Doc> ========= 4FREE ROLEPLAY ========= [08:10] <`Doc> Looking down at Marigold, the lizardman tilts his head slightly, then shrugs again, "Dunno. I left a long time ago, never thought about it." [08:10] * Taylen is now known as Marigold [08:10] "Mair! what are you doing here? following us eh?" [08:10] * Pvednes is now known as Agaven [08:10] * Marigold tilts her head in return "Okay, thats fair." [08:11] * Marigold shakes her head at pair "No, just trying to enjoy the plats, but the guards her won't let us." [08:11] * Agaven raises an eyebrow, "Enjoy the plants?" [08:11] * Marigold nods [08:11] "you'd have to ask the owners permission for that dear" [08:12] <`Doc> "Flowers have owners?" Mirra blinks [08:12] "These ones do." [08:12] * Marigold stares at Pair like she has lost her mind "No one can own plants." [08:12] It's more about the Land there on realy" [08:13] * Pair sing "Simply, this part of the land is hers, so she own what ever that it's on it, grow on it and is under it!" [08:13] "No one can own land either, we ar emearly given stewardship of it, the land has been here long before us and will be here long after us." [08:14] <`Doc> "Land is for everyone," Mirra frowns, nodding at Marigold's statement. "It's given as it's needed. Why would she need to keep us off the flowers?" [08:14] "Mari, this man's law... it DONT have to make sence, it just is... is it to much trouble to simply ask?" [08:15] <`Doc> "You saw how big that crowd was," the deep booming voice of the lizardman interjects. "What if everyone in that crowd wanted to walk on the flowers. There would be no flowers left." [08:16] * Marigold frowns "I shouldn't have to ask to talk to the flowers which are living things not objects. But humans do some very strange things with stuff that isn't really theirs so I suppose not." [08:17] "Well, enough of this, I'm going to see the Lady to thank her for having such good help! Your coming or your not?" [08:17] * Marigold shrugs "I suppose." [08:19] "Mm, I'd quite like to meet this Lady." [08:19] "Let's go." [08:19] * Marigold tilts her head at the lizardman "Thats the fiirst logical point I have heard about them. I don't suppose a sign asking people to take turns would help would it with that lot." [08:19] "Still it seem wrong to say no one can because a few can't act sensibaly." [08:21] * Pair starts walking towards the estate [08:22] * Marigold follows pair thataway [08:22] <`Doc> The lizardman turns towards the estate. "That's just how it is." He walks through the wide gap between two stone pillars that seem to act as stoppers for the rows of hedges. [08:22] <`Doc> Mirra follows behind. [08:23] * Agaven walks with Pair [08:23] <`Doc> Puppy trails behind Marigold. [08:23] <`Doc> ========= 4INCOMING DATA - PLEASE WAIT ========= [08:25] <`Doc> Walking up the cobblestone path, the group comes to a large house, set in front with four tall white pillars supporting an overhanging roof. This gives the building a large porch sheltered from the weather. [08:28] <`Doc> On either side of the path, gardens of early spring flowers bloom. A lone gardener kneels among the flowers to the right, several small tools hanging from her belt and the pockets of her apron. [08:28] <`Doc> As the group gets to the front door, the lizardman reaches up and knocks. [08:28] <`Doc> ========= 4FREE ROLEPLAY ========= [08:29] * Marigold frowns as she looks at the house [08:29] <`Doc> "Why don't we just go in?" Mirra asks. [08:29] * Pair keeps silent, simply looking arond. [08:30] <`Doc> Cobbled walkways lead around the house, and away in all directions between the many flower gardens. [08:30] "I think human's consider it rude if you just walk in to visit. They have a ritual of knocking then asking to permission." [08:32] <`Doc> After a moment, the door swings open. A halfling man in a formal black outfit stands in the doorway, looking up at the rest of the group. "Brought visitors, have you, captain?" [08:33] * Marigold waves at the halfling [08:33] <`Doc> The lizardman looks down at him, "They're here to meet with Lady Feathersash. Is she available?" [08:33] * Pair eyebrow raise at the lizardman when the word "Captain" is sayed [08:34] * Marigold whispers to Mirra "Now at home we just used flowerpots to indicate if we were busy, if we weren't people just walked in to say hi whenever." [08:37] * Pair says in halfling "It be quite honorable of thee to let us have the glory to meet her, m'sir" [08:37] <`Doc> The halfling spares Marigold a passing glance before returning to the lizardman, "The Lady is in a meeting with the bishops of Pelor at the moment, and cannot be disturbed. They'll have to come back l-" The lizardman grins, and turns to the group, "This way, ladies." He walks through the door, past the objecting halfling. [08:38] * Marigold follows slightly baffled "Why is she meeting with chess pieces?" [08:38] * Pair still in hafling "Oh... never mind =D" [08:38] * Agaven bows her head and follows the lizardman! [08:40] <`Doc> "I said she cannot be disturbed! Get them out of here, or I'll-" "Call the guards?" the lizardman grins with full teeth, leaning slightly towards the halfling. [08:40] * Pair adressing her self to the Lizardman "Captain eh, I bet there's a nice story behind that name? =)" [08:43] * Marigold smiles at the halfling "It's okay, it seems we are expected. Someone must have forgotten to give you the message though. Sometimes people forget to pass on the importent messages." [08:43] <`Doc> "Tend to the maids or something. This is my business," the lizardman turns from the halfling to Pair, covering the toothy grin with a more relaxed expression. "Not really." [08:44] * Marigold frowns in concentration for a second and taps pair on the shoulder "Was that a butler?" [08:45] * Pair let's out a sigh "i realy wish I had not lost my lute... if I'm to play to such a lady... not fair for my lute." let's out a bigger sigh [08:46] <`Doc> With a huff, the small man shuts the door and goes about other business of the house. [08:46] "I think it was... serving man of some sort... ask Agaven, she's more use to them" [08:47] * Marigold looks expectently at agaven [08:48] <`Doc> The entry room of the house is a large open hallway. Small candelabras line the walls on either side, along with flower-patterened draperies, and matching chairs spaced along the walls, each with a small end table beside it. [08:49] * Pair looks arond with curiosity [08:49] <`Doc> Doors interrupt the flow of the decoration periodically. At the far end of the hallway are a small staircase with doors at its head and foot, both sized for halflings. [08:49] "Something like that." [08:51] "I heard a story teller once tell an increadibly complicated story about a mystery, and in the end the bulter had done it. Always wondered what a butler looked like and did aside from answer the door." [08:51] <`Doc> The lizardman glances around at the various full-sized doors along the length of the hallway, pacing slowly, until he comes to a closed door third from the entry on the left wall. [08:52] <`Doc> "It was a mystery about who answered the door?" Mirra grins, "That's silly." [08:52] * Pair giggles "I know that story ..." mind slides on the door and starts lisinging [08:53] "Well he was very drunk at the time." [08:53] <`Doc> <> [08:53] <> [08:54] "Except you didn't know until the end that the mystery was who answered the door, you just assumed it was something big and importent." [08:54] <`Doc> Pair: With the group somewhat spread out along the early segment of the entrance hall, you're not close enough to the lizardman's particular chosen door to listen through it. [08:54] <`Doc> The lizardman tilts his head. [08:55] * Pair tilts her head. [08:55] * Diceaholic has joined #YL1000 [08:56] "Now someone want to explain to me why the lady would be talking to chessmen?" [08:56] "Oh Shush Mari, you'll understand when you meet them, it's just a title name!" [08:56] "They named people after chess pieces?" [08:57] <`Doc> The lizardman opens the door into the other room. <> [08:57] * Pair resist the urge to strangle Mari [08:57] * Marigold peers in to see the chessmen [08:57] dieroll 1d20+4 [08:57] --> 8 [08:57] dieroll 1d20+6 to listen awn in [08:57] --> 13 [08:58] <`Doc> ========= 4INCOMING DATA - PLEASE WAIT ========= [08:59] <`Doc> Pair: You can hear the lizardman's booming voice, but not anyone from inside the room. Agaven, you can hear the people inside the room. Mari, you can see what's going on. [08:59] <`Doc> dieroll 1d20+4 for Mirra [08:59] --> 12 [09:01] <`Doc> "-moving the parade route through-" "Visitors to see you, Lady Feathersash," the lizardman says in his booming voice, interrupting the conversation. Inside the room, two human men in white robes with gold crests down the front stand across the table from a bored-looking halfling woman in a blue gown. [09:02] <`Doc> ========= 4FREE ROLEPLAY ========= [09:02] * Marigold whispers "Wow they even look like the chess pieces." [09:02] * Pair frowns and head go's in when Mari says that! [09:04] <`Doc> One of the chess piece people turns to face the door, "We said no interruptions! They can come ba-" "Do show them in, Slesset," the halfling replies to the lizardman in a smooth, slightly drawling tone. [09:04] <`Doc> <> [09:04] * Marigold smiles at the chess people [09:04] * Pair slides in next to the Captain and takes a bow and says in halfling, head still down "Sorry to disturb you, M'lady" [09:06] * Agaven shrugs and walks on in too, curtsying. [09:06] <`Doc> The lizardman walks into the room. "No disturbance at all," the halfling woman repliese to Pair. "We're just about done here. Isn't that right, gentlemen," the halfling adds in Human, turning back to the chess people. [09:06] * Marigold follows in and bows slightly to the halfling lady [09:07] <`Doc> "Lady Feathersash, about the parade route-" "You're not marching a hundred clerics through my flowers, and that's final," though her tone takes on a hint of irritation, she still sounds predominantly bored. [09:08] * Marigold eyes light up and whispers "Oh" [09:08] * Agaven looks around the room, and grins a little bit to herself. [09:09] <`Doc> "Well I never!" the other cleric protests, to the immediate reply of the halfling, "Maybe if you did, you wouldn't be so uptight." [09:09] "Gentelmants! I'm sur if there is anything else of the amtter, it can be adressed with a simple parchements sent later in the day, Good day to you honorable Gents" [09:10] * Marigold suppresses a giggle [09:10] "Well said!" [09:12] <`Doc> "Slesset, would you be so kind as to show our guests the plethora of functions served by our front door?" The lizardman grins, "Yes Milady." He turns to the clerics, who gather some papers from the table, and storm out with a huff. [09:12] * Marigold looks at the halfling with a grin 'Are they named for the chess pieces or the other way around?" [09:13] "I've seen flys get the hint there anoying faster" she says in halfing [09:14] <`Doc> The halfling turns to Marigold, "You know, I never really thought about it. Maybe I'll set aside an afternoon to ponder that question and not see any bishops." [09:14] * Marigold giggles [09:14] They are certainly as stiff as chessmen. [09:14] * Agaven smiles [09:16] "Please, escuse our brutness, I am Pair, of the walking people" takes a small bow of respect "And this here is..." [09:16] * Pair wave her hand to Agaven so she can present her self" [09:17] * Agaven smiles and curtsys again, "Dr. Agaven Roylen, of Terranada, pleased to meet you!" [09:17] <`Doc> "The pleasure is mine. I should thank you for interrupting that meeting. Honestly if my station didn't obligate these diplomatic affairs, I'd live longer." She offers a soft grin, "You may call me Rita. I try not to dwell on titles." [09:17] <`Doc> ========= 4INCOMING DATA - PLEASE WAIT ========= [09:18] <`Doc> <> [09:19] And this here is.." waves to Mari and her friend* [09:20] * Marigold smiles "I'm Marigold daughter of Shenne, or Oakendaughter as rendered in the human method, I'm told I'm a druid or annoying depending on the circumstances." [09:23] * Marigold clasps Mirra's hand and whispers "Your turn, I'd introduce you but I don't know your mother's name." [09:23] <`Doc> Rita appears to be a slightly older halfling. Streaks of grey shade her otherwise raven hair, and small worry rings line her onyx eyes. She wears a simple yet elegant blue dress, and matching blue-dyed shoes with slightly raised heels. [09:24] <`Doc> "Mirra, daughter of Reina... from Eneri," Mirra says hesitantly. [09:25] * Marigold smiles at Mirra [09:26] "Miss Rita, we where brouth here by your nice Captain, for her helped us, and in return he asked if I could cheer you up. [09:26] <`Doc> <> [09:27] <> [09:28] "And my feline friends would like to ask thee, if theyt could anjoy your gardens.." [09:28] <`Doc> <> [09:28] <`Doc> ========= 4INCOMING DATA - PLEASE WAIT ========= [09:29] <`Doc> Like the hallway, this room has candelabras along the walls, and chairs around its edges. A large flower-pattern rug covers most of the floor. Tall windows along the far wall reach from near the floor all the way to the ceiling, with daylight streaming in. An expertly crafted rectangular table fills the center of the room, surrounded by tall-backed armless chairs. [09:30] <`Doc> No draperies line the polished wood walls of this room. Overall it has a more serious and sullen tone than the main hallway. [09:34] <`Doc> "He brought you to cheer me up? Well you're doing a good job so far," Rita grins, glancing around the room at her four guests. "So, what is it all of you do?" [09:34] <`Doc> ========= 4FREE ROLEPLAY ========= [09:35] "Mostly cause trouble so far." [09:35] "Define "Do" [09:36] "Heal the sick and injured, mostly--I could write you a writ saying no organized religion on doctor's orders, if you like." [09:36] "Well, for my part, I'm a Walker, I simply move arond, but miost call me "a bard" [09:36] <`Doc> Mirra folds her ears and shies back a little. [09:37] Actually Pair here's an artistic genius [09:37] * Marigold wraps an arm around Mirra's waste and leans her head on Mirra's shoulder [09:37] <> [09:39] <`Doc> "An artistic genius? That's rather a bold claim." "They drew quite a crowd," Slesset answers, coming back into the meeting room. "I brought them through a tunnel." [09:39] "I dint ment to... I was only trying to find a friend..." [09:39] * Marigold looks for a semi-quiet corner with a seat or two [09:40] "She hates me using that term, but don't let her convince you otherwise." [09:40] <`Doc> Mari: There are only the six of you in here, and lots of chairs. The ones along the wall are short with arms, the ones at the table are tall-backed with no arms. [09:40] "I swaer, at times, I'm a nice humming bird and then I can just turn to a cat in heat!" *almost sonds like a curse* [09:41] * Marigold picks a spot at random and tries to lead mirra there [09:42] <`Doc> Mirra takes a seat beside Marigold, glad to have the Lady's attention focused elsewhere. [09:43] * Marigold smiles softly at Mirra "Not exactly what I expected to be doing when we went for a walk in the gardens." [09:44] * Pair lisen to see hear what mari sayed [09:44] dieroll 1d20+4 [09:44] --> 9 [09:44] <`Doc> Lady Feathersash glances around the room for a moment, then turns back to Pair with a soft smile, "In that case, do you feel up for a performance? Seeing as this time was set aside for a meeting with the bishops, and we currently have a distinct lack of bishops, I'd say I have some free time." [09:45] <`Doc> Mirra turns to Marigold and whispers back, "Me neither." [09:46] "Well when pair gets done showing off we can ask to go lay in the flowers and get away from it all for a bit." [09:46] "Well" pair says sadly "I have lost my Lute, but I can still sing or, if you have a othere instrument you like me to play, I can try" [09:47] * Marigold keeps her next thought to herself and settles for just smiling at mirra [09:47] <`Doc> "That won't be a problem," Rita replies to Pair. She stands and walks over to the door, where she pulls a long cord. [09:50] <`Doc> After a moment, the formally-dressed halfling steps through the door, "What can I get for you, milady? Oh, it's you," he says, looking up at Slesset. [09:51] * Pair wisper not to be heard "Thats Captain You! for you mister! =P" [09:51] <`Doc> dieroll 1d20+4 [09:51] --> 7 [09:52] dieroll 1d20+2 [09:52] --> 14 [09:52] <`Doc> "Don't be rude, Hovins, these are our guests," Rita draws the butler's attention. "Speaking of which, this is Pair. Take her to the stores, and see if you can find her a suitable lute." [09:53] <`Doc> <> [09:53] * Marigold leans close to Mirra and whispers "I'd like to lay in the flowers with you." [09:54] <`Doc> "Yes Milady," Hovins' attitude becomes more polite in response to the Lady's request. "This way, Miss." [09:54] dieroll 1d20+4 [09:54] --> 17 [09:54] <`Doc> Mirra nods, her toes tracing one of the flower patterns on the rug. [09:54] <> [09:55] * Marigold hums softly happily grinning [09:55] <`Doc> Pair: You can hear Marigold whispering about flowers. [09:56] <`Doc> Pair: The halfling man stares at you from the doorway, waiting. [09:56] "It is mighty nice of you, m'lady, I hope my performence will be as kind to you as you are to me, but as you wait, would you mind showing your wonderfull garden to my friends here please? [09:56] * Marigold reaches over her shoulder into the bag and stroke's tiger's head [09:57] <`Doc> <> [09:58] <> [09:58] * Agaven stakes a seat [09:58] <<*takes>> [09:58] <`Doc> Marigold's bag purrs. [09:58] * Marigold grins "Happy kitty arn't you tiger?" [09:59] <`Doc> "Very well," Rita nods to Pair, "we'll be waiting for you in the garden when you return." She remains seated for the moment. The butler continues to stare. [10:00] * Pair follows the butler befor he blows up a new one [10:05] <`Doc> Pair departs with the diminuative butler, leaving Marigold, Mirra, Agaven, Slesset, and Lady Feathersash in the room. Only the guard captain remains standing. Rita glances out the window, "Yes, I think the dahlia garden will be a good place for a performance." [10:05] "oooh dahlias?" [10:07] <`Doc> "I take it you approve," the halfling woman replies, hopping down from her chair. [10:08] "I like flowers, I'm told it's natural." [10:09] <`Doc> Pair: The halfling, moving at a brisk halfling pace, leads you to a human-sized door at the far end of the hall. He takes a candle off a shelf just inside the door, and holds it up to one of the candelabras until it lights. [10:10] * Pair says in halfling "Sorry if we are such anoyace, sir" [10:11] <`Doc> "I agree," Rita nods. "Everyone should like flowers. Most people do like flowers. But a lot of people forget that flowers need time and care to grow." [10:12] "It's a very impressive garden..." [10:12] "They also like being talked to. Though they have less to say then the woody plants normally." [10:14] <`Doc> Pair: "Back when Lord Feathersash was around, we didn't have so many disruptions," the butler says matter-of-factly, taking the candle and leading the way through the door, down a staircase into the basement. [10:15] "I think they have less room for whatever makes things want to talk." [10:16] "Oh , I see ... people should not worry of what it use to be, but what good was left by them. Your Lady seem nice, but her sholders cary so much... I supose you try your best to keep her pleased." [10:18] * Marigold leans closer to mirra and stops talking [10:18] <`Doc> Rita stretches for a moment, "I've always thought flowers speak through their colors. When they're properly nurtured, they bloom brighter. My flowers take a dozen gardeners to raise them, and half as many guards to keep the masses at bay." [10:18] "Yeah they wouldn't let me talk to the flowers earlier." [10:18] * Marigold frowns softly [10:22] <`Doc> "Don't take it personally," Rita answers Marigold, walking towards the door. "You heard those two bishops before. They wanted to bring a parade through my gardens. A parade! Sometimes the only choice is whether to protect the people or protect the flowers." [10:23] <`Doc> "You coming?" she adds as she reaches the door. Slesset nods at the seated ladies. [10:23] "I only wanted tot hankthem for making my bad day happier." [10:24] * Marigold takes mirra's hand and heads after Rita [10:26] <`Doc> Pair: "Most certainly not. If I spent my time pleasing her, she'd be kicked out of high society in a year. Milady has no sense of priorities." [10:27] * Agaven smiles and gets up, walking out with the others [10:27] <`Doc> Mirra follows Marigold. [10:28] "I guess it's all a quest of point of view ... needs and duty are two things ..." trys to get out of that state of mind "so! tell me! what kind of music dose she anjoy?" [10:31] <`Doc> Rita leads the way to the front door, where she waits for Slesset to open it. He steps through first, greeting the air with a deep breath, then clears the way for her to pass. She comes to a stop in the doorway, staring at Puppy. Puppy stares back at her. [10:32] "Hey puppy, did you meet the chess men?" [10:34] <`Doc> Puppy barks once in response to Marigold, and continues to stand, waiting. "I take it this wolf is with you, then?" Rita asks, turning her gaze to look up at Marigold. [10:35] "She can't belong to me, she is her own creature, but we are friends. We travel togather and look out for each other." [10:36] * Marigold grins at puppy "Mostly she seems to take care of me though and I try to make her happy." [10:36] <`Doc> Pair: "Every kind," the butler says in a somewhat irritated tone, as he leads you into a basement room. The room has dozens of various musical instruments along one wall. "You heard Milady, find something you like. Go ahead." [10:37] "Oh my ... THank you." *looks at them, passing tips of her figers ever so gentaly on them* [10:39] "People do have the strangest reactions to her though." [10:39] "You'd think they'd never seen a wolf before or something." [10:41] <`Doc> "For most people, wolves are dangerous," Rita replies. Slesset begins walking away from the estate. "Heading out?" Rita asks him. "I still need recruits," Slesset replies, and continues walking away. [10:42] "Puppy isn't dangerous unless someone tries to hurt me." [10:44] * Marigold watches the lizardman go "What's he recruiting for?" [10:45] <`Doc> Pair: In the dim lighting, you can't tell much about the instruments beyond their types. You find harps of different sizes, a lyre, two lutes, a few different sizes of flutes and the like, two drums, and a large circling horn. [10:46] * Pair looks at the Lutes and Lyre. [10:48] <`Doc> Looking at them doesn't tell you much. [10:49] <> [10:52] <`Doc> "He says we need two more guards to even out the watch shifts. I don't know much about it, but one thing I don't need is tired guards if the saints come marching in," Rita turns to follow one of the cobbled walkways leading around the house and through the flower gardens. [10:54] <`Doc> Pair: One of the lutes seems very old, and is covered in dust. The other feels newer. Both need a bit of tuning at first, but play well. The lyre feels heavy, and has an odd balance to it. You find straps on the inside face, along with a lever along one edge. [10:54] "Oh" [10:54] * Marigold leads Mirra [10:55] <`Doc> Mirra looks around at the various flower gardens as she walks. Being back among the flower gardens seems to soothe her a bit. [10:56] * Pair hands the Old Lute to the halfling "I'll try to play this one and this Lyre" *puts back the newer Lute in her place* "Let's join the othere's again, my good one" [10:56] * Marigold smiles and admires the plants [10:59] "You have alot of beautiful flowers in one area. Some of them I have never seen growing in close proximity before." [10:59] <`Doc> Pair: "I'm her servant, not yours," the halfling replies, handing you back the instruments. [11:01] "Why you! I dont think of you as a servent! but as a Person! I'm polite and nice to you, and If you think your self as a better one to talk to me like so, then so be it!" *Takes it and go's back by the way they came.* [11:03] <`Doc> "We had to import the seeds," Rita replies, losing herself in thought for a few seconds. "Vidro used to tell me that our gardens cost a fortune, but my happiness was worth all of it and twice again. He did have a way with words." [11:03] "Happiness is worth more than fortunes indeed." [11:13] * Marigold looks for the patch of flowers she wanted to thank before [11:14] <`Doc> Rita leads the procession of ladies around to the back of the house, where she stops under an awning to pick up a small bell stuffed with a silencing pad. She then follows another trail away from the house. [11:14] <`Doc> Mari: The flowers you wanted to thank before are in a different direction. [11:16] * Marigold looks back at Mirra "You okay now?" [11:18] <`Doc> Mirra nods, "Yeah, it's nice out here." She stares out at one patch of flowers, "Wow, what are those?" "Sunflowers," Rita answers. "Last year I showed them to one of Pelor's clerics. Now they want to run a parade past my house." [11:19] "Why?" [11:20] "I have seen those somewhere before I think. Not sure where." [11:20] <`Doc> Rita shrugs, "I try not to listen when I can help it." [11:22] "Mm, luxury." [11:22] <,tell me when I get back>> [11:22] * Marigold frowns softly "Pelor is the name humans give to the sun aspect of the father I think. Maybe they like the flowers because the mimic the sun?" [11:22] <`Doc> Pair: You come up from the basement carrying the two newfound instruments, and return to the room where you left the rest of the group. The room is open and empty. A moment later, the butler catches up. "Milady said to take you outside. Follow me." He heads for the front door. [11:23] * Pair follows the short sited morron [11:25] <`Doc> Pair: In the lighting, you find that the lyre's outside face is made of thick metal, with a few polished-over dents and scars. The lacquered wooden lute has silver trim and carvings of roses along its face. [11:27] * Pair looks arond for her friends [11:27] dieroll 1d20+5 spot [11:27] --> 13 [11:27] <`Doc> "That would explain the name 'sunflower'," Rita replies with a grin, continuing to wind her way along the cobbled paths. [11:27] "Yeah like moonflowers mimic the moon." [11:29] "But water lillies don't mimic water, they just grow there." [11:30] * Marigold giggles [11:30] <`Doc> Pair: The halfling leads you around the side of the house, and out towards the gardens. He walks at a brisk halfling pace, which feels more casual to you. [11:32] <`Doc> Rita nods, "I know. We had fountains built around a pond on the estate. It's one of my favorite spots for a late supper." [11:32] "oooh" [11:33] <`Doc> "Ah, here we are," Rita announces, turning off the cobbled path onto a grassy patch surrounded by brightly blooming flowerbeds. [11:34] * Marigold runs over to get a close look at the flowers [11:37] * Pair walks behind the halfling, thinking of how can such a person have shoved up a stick so uge up his [11:37] <`Doc> Mari: Large, brightly colorored, almost spherical blossoms on foot-tall stems surround the patch of grass. They bob in the breeze, and give off a wonderful smell. [11:38] * Marigold grins giddily [11:41] * Marigold looks at Rita "Do you mind if I talk to these?" [11:42] <`Doc> "Fields of flowers have their own perfume. A lady who loves flowers carries their scent wherever she goes," Rita reflects. "He said that to me the first day we met." [11:43] * Marigold smiles [11:44] <`Doc> "I'm not sure how you do that, but so long as it doesn't involve picking or pulling, feel free." [11:44] * Marigold puts her hands on the stem of one and places her cheek against the bloom and softly whispers and hums [11:53] <`Doc> Rita watches Marigold for a moment. Then Tiger pops her head out of Mari's handbag, and Rita's eyes focus on the cat. [11:54] * Marigold pulls her cheek away from the flower and giggles "It called me fuzzy face, conversations with flowers are always amusing." [11:55] <`Doc> Tiger hops out of her bag, and goes exploring. Rita watches the cat wander off, "How many more of those do you have?" [11:56] "How many more of what?" [11:56] <`Doc> "Surprise friends," Rita smirks. [11:57] <`Doc> Puppy rolls in the grass. [11:57] "They aren't a surprise, they have been with me a long time." [11:57] "Two more, at least." [11:58] <`Doc> Rita crosses her arms, "Well they're a surprise to me, and if you surprise me with a bear, I'll ask you to leave it back on the porch." [11:58] "No bears, we left them in the shortlands along with Thu." [11:59] "They were all roly poly and cute, and if I didn't already have puppy I would have asked to take one with me." [12:01] * Marigold tilts her head "Your flowers seem to be happy, they like that they are pretty and they enjoy being appreciated, well as far as their capacity for thoughts and such allows them to be." Pair has a couple items in her arms. "Pair's here," Mirra waves. [12:04] "Aahh, here's Pair" [12:04] * Marigold smuiles "Your gardeners must take good care of the plants, they seem healthy and happy, even the bushes that are trimmed all the time are happy, though they'd like a little less trimming." [12:05] <`Doc> Pair: The butler leads you to a grassy clearing off the cobbled trail. As you get close, you notice a hand waving over the tops of some flowers, and arrive in time for the statement, "though they'd like a little less trimming." [12:06] * Pair_ has joined #YL1000 [12:06] * Pair has quit IRC (Connection reset by peer) [12:07] * Pair_ is now known as Pair [12:07] "Everyone" *pair says as for greating, looking for a confortable spot to sit* [12:08] <`Doc> "Taller hedges block the view. I like to see out, and even though I need to keep people off the gardens, I still prefer to let them see in. The estate used to have a fence, but it felt too confining." [12:09] * Marigold snuggles up beside Mirra to listen [12:09] "Yeah, I don't like being confined either, it scares me." [12:09] <`Doc> Rita looks up at Pair, "Couldn't make up your mind?" [12:10] "I could not resist, bouth called me to sing again" [12:10] * Pair starts cleaning the lute with her hands and some of her robe [12:11] "It's old, colection of your late husben? if you dont mind me says so" [12:12] <`Doc> "How about I make you an offer," Rita sits upright, tucking her legs under her slightly to improve her poise. "Agaven and Slesset both suggest you have a talent for music. Since you brought two instruments, you will play two songs on each. If I like what I hear, you can keep whichever one you prefer." [12:14] "It is nice for you to offer, my Lady, but in truth, there's only one instrument for me, and I lost it early today, I'll find it again... now let's see if I can please you all" [12:16] * Pair starts tuning the Lute [12:22] * Marigold snuggles up to Mirra and whispers "I hope it will be more of her pretty music this time." [12:22] <`Doc> Mirra settles in for the performance. Rita lays back in the grass, propping her head up on her hands. [12:23] * Pair settle her self and says "I rarely met elfs, there silent and rare, soem think of them snobs, but I see them as confined sentimenlist... I dont know many songs of them, but one touched me once, let me see if I can make it right today... [12:24] * Agaven sits and listens [12:24] * Pair starts playing the lute lightly, in a slow notes, as if she is trying to ajust her self to the lute, not to the lute to her. trying to make it sing out again. Flowers seem to bloom a little brighter. The buzzing of the bees lends a background to the tune, as small birds pick up a harmony. [12:36] <`Doc> The sad melody reminds each of you of someone from your past. Agaven, you remember the first time your husband took you out to sea. Marigold, you remember sitting with Thuthas, talking about the stars. Tears run from Rita's eyes down into her hair. Mirra starts to weep. [12:39] <`Doc> The memories seem vivid, almost real. Though they bring sadness, each of you feels a joy as well, as each of you recalls a happy moment. Only as the last cord rings out do your minds return to the flower garden, and to the present. Standing at the edge of the clearing, the butler, three gardeners, two guards, and a pair of halfling girls in maids' dresses watch with moist eyes. Lute remebers well?" [12:41] <`Doc> Mirra wraps her arms around Marigold and continues to cry. [12:41] * Marigold holds Mirra in return [12:41] * Pair grabs Agaven "Oh my, Sorry Aga" [12:42] * Agaven cries onto Pair.. [12:43] <`Doc> The edges of Rita's mouth flicker between a frown and a smile, as she visibly attempts to compose herself. "That... it... please, let me reminisce just another moment." [12:45] "Take your time, I'm sorry, You see, what Captain make his best to cheer you up, and your butler thinking only about your Nobless. I simply felt I needed you to reber who you ... not my place, sorry" [12:46] <`Doc> "Don't apologize. You've earned every word of praise your friends give you. I just... need a moment." With little along the lines of an actual story, the song celebrates the woman's love of liberty with a rousing melody. To add to the flavor, Pair beats the metallic side of the lyre, creating the sound of a small thunder crash. [13:01] <`Doc> The cheerful performance lifts everyone's spirits from the melancholy of her previous masterpiece, and many of the observers, their hearts warmed, can't help but move along to the music. One of the maids sweeps up with a male gardener during the performance, as the two of them dance through the grassy clearing between the Lady and her visitors. [13:03] <`Doc> At the end of the song, Rita claps, as do the maids and the gardeners. The guards try to feign disinterest, but both of them walk away humming the tune. Though the butler doesn't clap either, he does have a smile on his face. [13:03] <`Doc> ========= 4FREE ROLEPLAY ========= [13:03] * Agaven applauds! [13:04] * Pair gives a small bow with her head, happy that everyone anjoys it =D [13:04] <`Doc> "Bravo, wonderful!" Rita cheers. [13:04] * Marigold giggles [13:04] "Absolutely" [13:10] "I'm glad you all like it, how about we eat befor the two othere's? I'm sure we can go get soemthing at the market and eat out erhe with everyone! [13:12] <`Doc> "The market? Nonsense. We can eat right out here on the grass. Hovins, be a dear and have the cooks prepare something special for our guests." "Yes milady," the butler nods, a bit more enthusiastically than his earlier responses, and disappears along the cobbled paths towards the house.
